The heat is on to perform circumcision

South Africa Is Seen to Lag in H.I.V. Fight – NYTimes.com.

A related look to my post of last night.  Clearly this phenomena was part of the driving behavior for the scientific experiment in Uganda.   Worth noting, is the scientific support that circumcision is a good health practice.  Note though, that this article only references transfer of HIV from women to men, not men to women.

As such I stand by my earlier thoughts, designing an experiment to expose people who do not have HIV is deplorable.

PS.  South Africa’s government needs to get its head out the sand.  The quote that the president cannot speak before the health ministers, is simply ludicrous.  As an effective leader, the health ministry should talk to the president first and use his position of influence to further the cause of public health.   Backwards thinking.  But then again, President Zuma, did take that shower to reduce his risk of HIV infection.
